Kia’s redesigned 2017 Sportage crossover jumps up in price a bit, with its new starting cost of $23,885 with destination representing an $840 increase compared to the 2016 Sportage.
The Sportage LX and EX models are powered by a 181-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, while the top-trim Sportage SX Turbo, starting at $33,395, gets upgraded to a 240-hp, 2.0-liter turbo-four. All-wheel drive is a $1,500 option for any trim, and the SX Turbo comes otherwise loaded, meaning that the top-of-the-range 2017 Kia Sportage SX Turbo AWD tops out at $34,895.
As is typical for Kia, the Sportage is available with all sorts of luxury options typically reserved for higher-end cars. For the LX, a $1,100 LX Popular Package adds heated front seats, power driver’s seat, upgraded cloth upholstery, and roof rails, and the $900 Cool and Collected Package comes with automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The EX goes even further, with its $1,900 Premium Package adding kit like a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, blind-spot warning, and LED interior lighting. The EX also offers a $2,700 Technology Package with an 8-inch Uvo touchscreen, a Harmon Kardon audio system, a park assist system, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and cooled front seats. The SX Turbo model comes standard with all this extra stuff, along with larger front brakes, sportier suspension tuning, paddle shifters, 19-inch wheels, LED fog lights and taillights, and plenty of metal and gloss-black interior trim.
Expect the new 2017 Kia Sportage to go on sale within the next few months.
