The next model from the Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand has been confirmed as an ultra-luxurious version of the S-Class Cabriolet.
The car will make its world debut November 16 at the 2016 Los Angeles auto show, finished in a distinct red hue that’s not unlike the color used on Maybach’s 6 concept unveiled during the 2016 Monterey Car Week.
From a teaser video released on Sunday, we learn that the car will be badged an “S650” and limited to just 300 units in total, making it one of the world’s most exclusive drop-tops.
The 650 trim is new for Mercedes and implies that the S650 Cabriolet will have more power than Maybach’s S600 sedan, whose twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 delivers 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. It’s possible that this trim will be reserved for Maybach models, to give them that bit of extra exclusivity.
We also learn from the teaser that the car will feature Maybach badges, a beautiful, hand-stitched tonneau extension and the top-of-the-range seats and trim offered by the German automaker. It goes without saying that pricing will also be at the top of the range. Look for a starting figure in excess of $200K.
