1978 Ford F-100 with Eluminator electric crate motor shows the future of restomodding

Ford on Tuesday unveiled its Eluminator electric crate motor at the SEMA show currently underway in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But rather than just show off the crate motor on a stand, the automaker installed two of them in a custom 1978 F-100 pickup truck. Chevrolet did the same thing back in 2019 with a custom 1962 C-10 and then again in 2020 with a custom 1977 K5 Blazer.

Ford fans keen to start their own electric builds can purchase the Eluminator electric crate motor today for $3,900, using part number M-9000-MACH-E. The motor, which is related to motors used in the Mustang Mach-E GT performance electric crossover, generates a peak 281 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque.
