20 world debuts pegged for 2016 L.A. auto show

We’re still a couple of months out from the 2016 Los Angeles auto show but organizers have already confirmed there will be at least 20 world debuts taking place.

That’s impressive considering the 2016 Paris auto show is taking place a little over a month  before the L.A. event.

The identity of the 20 vehicles hasn’t been announced though we can confirm some of the brands showing new vehicles will be Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Jeep, Mazda, Mini, Subaru and Volkswagen.

Alfa Romeo will be presenting its Stelvio SUV. Chevrolet will have two cars, possibly new versions of the Equinox and Traverse. Jeep, meanwhile, will have its replacement for the Compass and Patriot, and Mazda is likely to show its updated 3.

It’s not clear what Subaru has in store but Mini and Volkswagen will likely show a new Countryman and three-row SUV, respectively.

Cadillac has confirmed it will show its stunning Escala concept that we first saw during August’s 2016 Monterey Car Week. And considering the L.A. auto show is a favorite of Porsche, you can bet there will be at least one world debut from the German firm, perhaps its new Macan Turbo Performance Package.

Show organizers have also confirmed that the latest prototype for Elio’s planned 84-mpg car will be present, as well as the Olli autonomous bus developed by IBM and Local Motors.

The L.A. auto show gets underway November 14. To keep abreast of our coverage, bookmark our dedicated hub.
