Volkswagen says the updates to the Passat will be more involved than a mild refresh, with new sheetmetal, new head- and taillights, and new wheels. The 2016 Volkswagen Passat seen here has a slightly reshaped grille, a new hood with additional strakes, and a new front fascia with more prominent cladding around the lower air intake and the foglights. Out back, look for new taillights and a subtly changed trunklid shape.

It’s unlikely the 2016 Volkswagen Passat’s powertrains will deviate too much from the current range. Expect the 1.8-liter turbo-four engine, a 3.6-liter VR6, and a 2.0-liter inline-four turbodiesel to continue.
