We’ve been hugely impressed by the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, naming it an AUTOMOBILE All-Star, and quickly falling for the two-door coupe derivative. We are thus pretty excited to see this teaser sketch for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet, which will drop its top at U.S. dealerships this fall.
Set to make its public debut at the 2016 Geneva auto show in March, the new C-Class convertible looks to take much inspiration from the glamorous S-Class convertible, with a somewhat plain, rounded rump. The car’s roof will fold into a compartment aft of the rear seats, behind which a flat decklid extends all the way to the back of the car. A prominent shoulder line, running from the car’s headlights to its taillights, breaks up the bodysides visually.
Mechanically, we expect the C-Class droptop to use the same engines as its sedan and coupe siblings. Look for a C300 model with a 241-hp, 2.0-liter turbo-four; an AMG C43 with 362 hp from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6; and, eventually, AMG C63 models with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 good for 469 hp in the standard model and 503 hp in S tune.
