Bentley is readying a new generation of its Continental GT and today we have the first photos of the convertible.
The new Continental GT coupe is expected on the market next year as a 2018 model. The convertible should arrive around the same time though we could see Bentley stagger the launch of the two cars.
The prototype is heavily disguised but we can make out many of the details.
For example, we can see the designers have once again gone with a soft-top roof. And it’s clear that the car’s lines have been inspired by Bentley’s impressive EXP 10 Speed 6 concept unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Don’t be fooled by the camo over the taillights. Each unit features a large oval-shaped element also borrowed from the EXP 10 Speed 6.
Underneath the sheet metal is the modular platform known as the MSB that makes its debut in the new Porsche Panamera. It brings significant weight savings as well as compatibility with alternative powertrains.
The core powertrain in the new Continental GT including the convertible will be a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W-12. Factor on an output of at least 600 horsepower, up from the 582 hp found in the current model. A GT Speed Convertible is also planned and should deliver more than the latest model’s 633 hp. The sole transmission is expected to be an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive should also be fitted as standard.
Stay tuned for updates as development continues.
