Audi already offered an SQ5 TDI model in Europe with 313 hp, and this Plus model’s upgraded 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 ups that number to 340 hp thanks to increased injection pressure. That’s an even bigger jump over the Audi Q5 TDI that’s sold in the U.S., which makes do with only 240 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque, and the TDI Plus model’s big torque number shames the gasoline-powered SQ5 and its 346 lb-ft of torque. As you’d expect, the SQ5 TDI Plus comes standard with Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, and also uses a sport differential in the rear.
Along with the powertrain tweaks, the Audi SQ5 TDI Plus features sharper styling to set it apart from the rest of the lineup. 21-inch gloss black wheels, additional black trim, and diamond-patterned Nappa leather come standard; Audi will also offer a special upgrade package that includes the pictured macaw blue exterior color with matching blue interior trim, of which only 100 examples will be sold.
Sadly, the Audi SQ5 TDI Plus isn’t coming to the U.S. anytime soon. Lucky customers in Europe, though, will be able to pick up the TDI Plus model starting next month for a starting price of 67,700 euros.
