Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Spied Winter Testing

The Mercedes-AMG GT S is still a relative newcomer in the high-performance world, yet the German automaker is already out testing a hotter, faster version of its coupe. Tentatively dubbed the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, our spy photographers spotted the high-spec car getting a winter-weather shakedown.

The regular Mercedes-AMG GT S is no slouch, with 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque underhood, but the Black Series will turn up the wick singificantly. All Mercedes-AMG GTs share the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and this car should be no different. Expect a power output between 550 and 600 hp, with a top speed well north of 200 mph. As earlier spy shots revealed, the new GT will pack upgraded aerodynamic parts, including the large rear wing that has become a staple of AMG’s wild Black Series lineup.

This Mercedes-AMG GT S Black Series prototype also rocks an aggressive rear diffuser and a modified front end with larger air intakes. The bodywork hides an upgraded suspension, brakes, wheels, and likely new programming for the dual-clutch transmission.
