Ahead of its planned debut at the Frankfurt auto show, VW has released a teaser of the new Volkswagen Tiguan. The crossover debuting at Frankfurt will be the European version of the Tiguan, which will be built at the company’s Wolfsburg plant in Germany.
Engine offerings will likely mirror those of the Golf. That means a 1.8-liter turbo-four gas engine as the base offering, and 2.0-liter turbodiesel and 2.0-liter turbo-four engines higher up the ladder. Both front- and all-wheel drive will be available, the latter a Haldex 5 setup cribbed from the Golf R.
The Volkswagen Tiguan has been built primarily in Wolfsburg, Germany since 2007, shipping 1.6 million units. The remaining 1.04 million units came from VW’s Chinese and Russian facilities.
According to a VW spokesperson, more details are on the way in the lead-up to the Tiguan’s Frankfurt reveal.
