Two new BMW concepts heading to Pebble Beach 2015

BMW has confirmed that next month’s Monterey Car Week will see the reveal of not one, but two new concept cars from the firm. The iconic event centering around the famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, will play host to at least one performance-oriented Bavarian model, although details are scarce so far.

This teaser image of a racy, track car style steering wheel shows what we can expect from one of the concepts. It’s semi-circular design shows real sporting intent, while the blue and red stitching is a trademark indication of one of BMW’s ‘M’ models. Dirk Haeker, R&D chief for the ‘M’ division, will also be in attendance and is likely to make a public statement about a new concept.

Also intriguing on the wheel teaser are several buttons, marked “Flash”, “Cool” and “PSL”. What these mean is unclear at this stage, but there’s every possibility of a more advanced ‘M’ model debuting with a hybrid powertrain, possibly even a concept of the rumoured more hardcore BMW i8.

The last BMW concept to be unveiled at this sort of event was the striking 3.0 CSL Hommage design study, which took pride of place at the exclusive Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este show in Italy. We’ll bring you further details of these two new concept cars as soon as we get them.
