U.S.-Market 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Bids Farewell

We’ve had a long time to prepare our goodbyes for the iconic Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, and now a lucky few buyers in the U.S. will have the opportunity to get their hands on the last examples of the breed. Along with the Japanese-market Evo Final Edition, a special U.S.-market Final Edition version of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will have a limited run of 1,600 examples as a swan song for the rally-bred performance car.
Based on the Lancer Evolution GSR, the Final Edition car has a few tweaks to set it apart as an exclusive farewell model. The same 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder is under the hood, mated to a standard five-speed manual, but it now makes an extra 12 hp and 5 lb-ft for a total of 303 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. Final Edition cars also receive chassis modifications typically reserved for the Evo MR, including Brembo brake rotors in the front, Bilstein shocks, and Eibach springs.

Visual modifications for the Final Edition are relatively subtle, and include a black roof, dark chrome Enkei wheels, a black front center bumper, and dark chrome trim for the front grille surround. All Final Edition cars also come with black trim and red stitching throughout the interior, and feature a numbered plaque on the console. Four colors are available: Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Gray, and Octane Blue.

For all of its exclusivity and extra performance, the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition carries a surprisingly low price of $38,805—that’s less than you’ll pay for a standard Lancer Evolution MR. This means that there will surely be plenty of buyers clamoring to get their hands on these 1,600 special cars, though Mitsubishi has not yet announced a pre-order or reservation process.
