Watch the Bentley Bentayga Prototype Crack 187 MPH

We have previously seen the upcoming Bentley Bentayga hyper-luxury SUV earn its stripes off-road, where the prototype was shown traversing through rough and rocky terrain in another teaser video. Now, a new video shows the unstoppable performance of the marquee’s first SUV as it blitzes its way to a top-speed record — for SUVs, at least.
The setting is dramatically introduced as a “High-speed testing facility at an undisclosed location,” where the Bentley Bentayga is show blitzing down a long straight on an oval high-speed test ring. A quick shot at the digital speedometer reads an indicated 301 km/h, or 187 mph, making good on the Bentayga’s claim as the fastest SUV in the world. That beats the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which tops out at a claimed 176 mph, as well as the 162-mph Range Rover Sport SVR.

This stunning performance is no surprise, however, as under the massive hood of the Bentley Bentayga beats a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W-12 engine, which pushes out 540 hp and more than 530 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent through all four wheels, helping rocket the Flying B SUV to 60 mph in under five seconds.

We got our first taste of the Bentayga when we drove the camouflaged test mule in South Africa, where we tested the new SUV extensively off-road. The Bentley Bentayga SUV makes its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt auto show. Until then, you can watch the Bentley SUV crack 187 mph in the video below.
