Apparently there are plenty of Toyota Prius buyers who like to personalize their hybrids. After introducing a Persona Series version of the standard Prius hatchback, Toyota is now introducing a similar special-edition package for the Prius’ little brother, the 2016 Toyota Prius C hatch.
The Prius C Persona Series comes with a black-on-black color scheme for the exterior paint and alloy wheels. Bright color accents, available in either Electric Lime or Cherry Pearl, adorn the lower front grille, the headlight surrounds, the side mirrors, and the window trim, making for a paint scheme that Toyota compares to “customized exotics driven by pro ballplayers.” Ok then.
Based on the 2016 Toyota Prius C Two model, the Persona Series comes standard with keyless entry, automatic climate control, cloth seats, and Bluetooth. To try and play up the Persona’s exclusivity, Toyota will only sell 1,500 of these special-edition models, each of which is equipped with a Persona Series badge.
The only other change for the 2016 Toyota Prius C lineup is the addition of an option package that includes active safety features like pre-collision warning, lane departure assist, and automatic high beams. All versions of the Toyota Prius C received a refresh last year with slightly different styling and a few interior tweaks. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and electric motors that make up the hybrid drivetrain were unchanged, as were the EPA fuel economy ratings of 53/46 mpg city/highway.
The Prius C Persona Series will go on sale this December.
