As the VW diesel scandal continues to escalate, it will be interesting to see whether the company — Volkswagen Group sales, including Audi, rose 5.8 percent in October — can maintain decent numbers over the months to come.
So with that, let’s go to the numbers …

1. General Motors: 262,993, up 15.9 percent.
*Those inane commercials must be working: Chevrolet division was up 17.6 percent to 183,464.
*Chevrolet Silverado was up 10 percent to 51,647 and GMC Sierra was off 0.2 percent to 18,521; combined, they outsold Ford F-Series by 4,668 units.
*Chevy Colorado was up 373.4 percent to 7,059, and GMC Canyon was up 262.1 percent to 2,415.
*Chevy Equinox was up 25.5 percent to 22,086, though Cruze fell 35.3 percent to 15,710.
*Chevy Malibu sales rose 122.1 percent to 24,725, while Impala was up 11.3 percent to 11,805.
*Buick fell 0.2 percent to 18,660. Encore was its only gainer, up 38.8 percent to 6,633. LaCrosse (a new one bows at the L.A. show this month) was off 26.9 percent to 2,977.
*GMC was up 18 percent to 45,478, while Cadillac was up 13 percent to 15,931.
*Cadillac SRX was up 65.4 percent to 6,020, and Escalade was up 32.2 percent to 1,838.
*CTS continued its slide, off 49.4 percent to 1,567, while ATS was off 3.1 percent to 2,528.

2. Ford Motor Company: 213,938, up 13.4 percent.
*Mustang was up 121.2 percent to 10,096, far outselling the Lincoln brand, off 4.5 percent to 8,485.
*F-Series was up 3.3 percent to 65,500, and Transit rose 314.8 percent to 9,361.
*Explorer was up 29.7 percent to 18,748, while the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility was off 3.2 percent to 1,975.
*Escape dropped 0.8 percent to 24,719. Fusion was up 3.6 percent to 23,668.
*Focus jumped 19.6 percent to 16,423 and Fiesta fell 0.3 percent to 3,618.

3. Toyota Motor Sales: 204,045, up 13 percent.
*Toyota division was up 13 percent to 177,609.
*Camry was up 1.1 percent to 34,781 units.
*RAV4 was up 26.6 percent to 28,256, outsold Corolla (up 12 percent) by 305 units.
*Scion was up 44.6 percent to 6,270, thanks to new, additional models, iA and iM.
*Lexus division was up 13.2 percent to 26,436.
*Trucks were up 33.91 percent to 101,907.
*RX was off 5 percent to 8,018, while Lexus sold 3,399 of its new, compact NX models.
*ES was off 8.5 percent to 5,426 and IS was off 21.8 percent to 2,950. Lexus sold 1,333 RC models.

4. FiatChrysler: 195,545, up 15 percent.
*Jeep keeps shaking its moneymaker, with sales up 33 percent to 73,561.
*Cherokee led, up 12 percent to 17,673, Grand Cherokee was up 7 percent to 16,050, Wrangler was up 15 percent to 15,751, and Patriot was up 56 percent to 10,191. Jeep sold 7,795 Renegades.
*Ram pickup was up 3 percent to 40,931.
*Chrysler 200 was up 2 percent to 11,905, and Dodge Dart fell 15 percent to 6,152.
*Chrysler 300 was off 8 percent to 4,564; Dodge Charger was up 24 percent to 8,673.
*Fiat sold 3,757 units, up 1 percent, with 500X accounting for 2,178 of those. Alfa Romeo sold 65 4Cs.

*Accord and Civic were up 7.1 and 10.9 percent , to 30,121 and 27,789 respectively.
*CR-V was down 4.3 percent to 29,032, but still outsold Civic.
*Fit was down 80.8 percent to 1,363 units, but HR-V sold 4,502 units.
*Pilot, including the new model, was up 57.6 percent to 12,913.
*TLX was Acura’s bestseller at 5,777 units, up 18.1 percent. Acura was up 4.2 percent overall to 16,079.

6. Nissan Group: 116,047, up 12.5 percent.
*Rogue was bestseller, up 69.8 percent to 24,939 units.
*Altima fell 11 percent to 20,948, as dealers made space for the facelifted ’16 model.
*Versa was up 24.9 percent to 13,855.
*Infiniti trucks were up 63.3 percent to 6,344, while its cars were down 7 percent to 4,799.
7. Hyundai: 60,005 up 20 percent.
*Sonata was up 3.3 percent to 16,071, and Elantra was up 24.4 percent to 15,868.
*Santa Fe was up 25.4 percent to 11,060.
*Tucson was up 103.2 percent to 7,298.
8. Subaru: 51,629, up 20 percent.
*Nearly every model was up by double-digit percentages
*Impreza biggest gainer, up 69.3 percent to 5,340.
*Forester was the bestseller, at 15,172 units, up 17 percent. Outback was up 16.7 percent to 14,729.
*Only Legacy and BRZ were down, 10.6 and 14 percent to 5,688 and 374 respectively.
9. Kia: 50,044, up 12 percent.
*Optima traded places with last month’s sales leader, Soul, with a 21.5 percent gain to 14,381.
*Soul was up too by 14.6 percent to 12,246.
*Sorrento was up 12.2 percent to 8,593. K900 was up 269.4 percent to 229.
10. BMW Group: 33,526, off 6.6 percent.
*BMW brand down 3.8 percent to 29,439, and Mini down 22.9 percent to 4,087.
*3 Series was up 8 percent to 11,012, and 4 Series was off 3.7 percent to 3,295.
*X3 was up 88.1 percent to 3,028, though X5 still led CUVs, up 27.9 percent to 4,292.
*i3 was off 15 percent to 986, and i8 fell 27 percent, to 149.
*Mini sold 1,018 of its new Cooper/S 4 Door Hardtops.
11. Mercedes-Benz USA: 32,472, up 3.7 percent.
*C-Class fell 1.7 percent to 7,283, but E-Class was up 18.4 percent to 4,661.
*CLA-Class slid 28.1 percent to 1,867, while GLA was up 0.9 percent to 2,025.
*S-Class also slid by 27.9 percent to 1,921.
*Smart was up 23.2 percent to 721.
*Bestseller Jetta sedan was off 36.1 percent to 8,551, and Passat was up 24.6 percent to 8,116.
*Golf was up 40.2 percent to 5,716, with 596 e-Golfs, 518 Golf Rs, and 2,520 GTIs (up 46.2 percent). Sales of the standard Golf, which would account for many of the diesels that are not available for sale, was off 53.3 percent to 1,099.
*Tiguan, part of VW’s aggressive incentive campaign, was up 167.1 percent to 4,815.
*Miata was up 276.7 percent to 1,085 units, with about 90 percent sold consisting of the new ND model.
*CX-5 was up 54.6 percent to become Mazda’s bestseller at 9,264 units, while the new CX-3 added 1,382 units.
*Mazda3 and Mazda6 were up 15.1 and 13.1 percent , to 8,342 and 3,563 respectively.
14. Audi: 17,700, up 16.8 percent.
*Bestseller Q5 was up 36.2 percent to 4,863.
*A4 was up 27.7 percent to 2,896, and A3 was up 24.8 percent to 2,732.
*The new TT model scored a 628.1 percent hike to 233.
15. Jaguar/Land Rover: 8,187, up 76 percent.
*Land Rover was up 98 percent to 7,199, while Jaguar fell 2 percent to 998 units.
*Range Rover Sport was up 77 percent to 1,906; Range Rover was up 46 percent to 1,803, and Evoque was up 28 percent to 1,265.
*Jaguar’s extended F-Type was up 17 percent to 400.
16. Mitsubishi: 7,426, up 19.8 percent.
*Outlander Sport was up 25.4 percent to 3,094.
*Lancer sales fell 20.4 percent to 1,086.
17. Volvo: 7,422, up 86.9 percent.
*The new, 2016 XC90 shot to the top of the Swedish brand’s charts with 2,565 (compared with 267 of the old model the previous October).
*XC60 was up 15.7 percent to 1,912.
*S60 was up 23.4 percent to 1,391, while XC70 was off 1.3 percent to 464.
18. Porsche: 4,070, up 11 percent.
*Cayenne was up 104 percent to 1,454.
*Macan was up 22.5 percent to 908.
*Sales of 911/918 fell 18 percent to 803.
*Boxster/Cayman was off 21.4 percent to 552, though individually, Cayman was up 0.6 percent.
