Rolls-Royce Dawn Teased Ahead of Frankfurt Debut

As Rolls-Royce gears up for the 2015 Frankfurt auto show, the hyper-luxury automaker released three teaser images of a new model called the Dawn. We don’t have any official details on what this mystery Dawn will be, but in the three teaser images, we see a pillarless door, a beautifully engraved sill plaque, and the fabulous analog clock in the center of a wood-swathed dash.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn is expected to be based on the new Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe. It will be the second convertible in the company’s lineup. While Rolls-Royce already produces the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead convertible, that rolling billboard for excessive wealth stickers for almost $500,000. The Dawn will most have a somewhat more accessible price; the Wraith begins just below the $300,000 mark, so the Dawn could be in the mid-to-high $300,000 range.

Just as the difference between the Wraith and the Phantom Coupe, the Dawn will be proportionally smaller in size than the big-boy Phantom Drophead, and will likely have a more engaging driving experience than that found in the Drophead. The only engine choice will likely remain the 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged BMW V-12, with 624 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Power will be routed through the rear-wheels through a slick ZF eight-speed transmission.
